Argon Law asks - what's your number?

Sat Oct 01, 2016

Are you up for the challenge of 1, 5 or 9 hills? Cyclists can find out by entering now for The Buderim 9 Challenge on again in December!

Now in its fifth year, organisers are gearing up to welcome avid cyclists to face the challenge of cycling up (and down) nine of Buderim’s toughest hills to raise awareness and funds for Sunshine Coast disability service, CPL, and they are calling on you to join.

John Gallagher, Director of Principal Sponsor, Argon Law, is encouraging riders to raise as much pre-event donations as possible all for a great cause.

“Set yourself the target for your name to appear on the prestigious Argon Law perpetual trophy – as the Highest Fund Raiser of the 2016 Buderim 9 Challenge,” John said.

“Buderim 9 proceeds support those living with cerebral palsy and related physical disabilities and your donations change the lives in a small but meaningful way of many families on the Sunshine Coast.

“Argon Law has been an avid supporter of the event for the past five years and the Buderim 9 Challenge is a fabulous example of individuals within our community and local businesses coming together for a common cause and a bit of fun and personal challenge.

“Registrations are now open so visit the Buderim 9 Challenge website for entry and event details.”

Josh Paix, who lives with cerebral palsy and regular ‘B9’ participant, is challenging cyclists out there to tackle 75 kilometres and as many of Buderim’s nine hills as they can in three hours!

“Cyclists from across the country, our local cycling clubs and even some from overseas converge on the streets of Buderim on Sunday 18 December and gear themselves up to ‘Get Over It’ for this unique challenge,” Josh said.

Manager of CPL’s Sunshine Coast service, Carmel Smith, said last year’s event saw more than 230 riders, nine hill sponsors and many amazing donations of goods, time, sweat and money!

“Last year raised more than $16,000 to support children and families on the Sunshine Coast with cerebral palsy,” Ms Smith said.

“We are so grateful for the efforts and generosity of all those who continue to help make this event such an extraordinary success.”

Greg Paix is the driving force behind the event a vested interest in both CPL and cycling on the Coast.  In his spare time, Greg is involved in the planning of Buderim 9 Challenge, is an active member of the Sunshine Coast Cycling Club and most passionately is the biggest fan of his young-adult son, Josh.

“I live and breathe the Buderim 9 Challenge for all that it offers its participants, supporters and recipients!” Greg said.

“We hope to see even more cyclists and supporters participating again this year. Let’s ‘GET OVER IT!’ together!”
