Celebrating Creativity and Nature: Highlights from the 2025 Australian Wearable Art Festival

Argon Law was honoured to sponsor and present the prize of the Elements of Nature category at this year’s Australian Wearable Art Festival. Drawing inspiration from the endless cycles of our environmentearth, water, air, fire – this category invited artists to explore themes of Cyclical · Environment · Explore · Movement · Connected.

Our VIP experience gave us the privilege of front-row seats to each incredible creation’s runway show, an exclusive backstage tour, and the joy of spoiling our VIP guests. It was an unforgettable celebration of artistry and nature. Thank you to all our guests for joining us!

Festival Winner Spotlight: Elements of Nature

This year, the category we proudly supported was won by Rosamund Torr from Victoria, for her stunning wearable piece titled “After the Fire.” Her work beautifully captured the transformative and regenerative spirit of fire.

Supreme Winner: A Masterpiece of Innovation

Beyond our category, the festival’s Supreme Winner prize went to Sunshine Coast locals Evita Camilleri and Dan Draper, collectively known as Derby Cross. Their extraordinary creation, Fractilians II (Salt), is crafted from clear tubing and over 56,000 cable ties – each hand‑shaped and meticulously placed.

This piece is part of their ‘Fractilians’ series – a tribute to fictional subterranean spirits whose intricate salt‑crystal armour offers both camouflage and protection – a stunning fusion of narrative depth and structural ingenuity.

Other notable winners included:

  • Avant Garde: The Lotus Queen and Oil Merchant by Kym Cunningham (QLD)
  • Trashion: Sunflare Sentinel by Oana Rosca (Romania)
  • Abstract Form: Metal Bloom by Rae Saheli (QLD)
  • Emerging Wearable Artist: Fly Like the Wind by Sophy Blake (Sunshine Coast)
  • Innovation Award: Metamorphose by Vivien Eardley (QLD)
  • Youth Award: Tesselate by Kayla Trisakti (NSW)
  • Textile Fibre Award: Gather Community by Stephanie Vale (QLD)
  • Sustainable Award: Duality by Antoaneta Tica (Romania)
  • People’s Choice: Life Sentence by Robyn Valentine (New Zealand)

Congratulations to all the outstanding artists, especially Rosamund Torr for her moving interpretation of fire’s transformative power. Well done to the Festival team for once again delivering an incredible event that keeps the Sunshine Coast at the heart of Australia’s creative fabric. We can’t wait for next year!
