John Gallagher is the director and founder of Argon Law.  He has extensive experience in commercial and property law as well as wills and estate planning.

A highly qualified lawyer with more than 30 years' experience, John is motivated by helping clients to achieve commercially beneficial, tax effective and efficient outcomes which give them both certainty and legal protection.  His clients include both business owners and private clients as well as local authorities primarily across the Sunshine Coast, Noosa and the hinterland.

John’s focus is on strong client relationships. He wants to service clients that value his input in major business decisions and transactions.

John actively promotes his clients and looks for ways to grow the value of their businesses and improve their lives.

James Blevin

General Manager

BBus (Acc), GradDip (CA)

James is an accomplished business leader and finance professional. He has spent more than a decade working in multinational professional services firms, specialising in audit and assurance, risk advisory and corporate consulting. Some of his past clients include the Department of Transport and Main Roads, the University of the Sunshine Coast, and the Sunshine Coast Council.

Having arrived in 2003, James is passionate about the business and community sectors on the Sunshine Coast. He volunteers on several community boards, including Matthew Flinders Anglican College and Diwa Zambezi. Furthermore, he has established a publishing business, a tour company, and a wildlife conservation fund.

An eclectic soul, James prides himself on building enduring, impactful relationships. He recognises that the best outcomes come from strong teams, a reason he values and fosters a strong team culture at Argon Law.

With his varied commercial experience and entrepreneurial nature, James provides a great connection for improving lives and nurturing business resilience and growth.

James and his wife Sammy are new parents to a beautiful baby girl, and he can’t wait to teach her to fish, with English Bulldog Batonka in tow.

Dan Michels

Special Counsel

BA (Distinction – Applied Ethics); LLB (hons); GC Mus (IP); LLM.

Dan joined the Argon Law team in 2018 from Brisbane, bringing with him key experience in property, commercial, health, employment law and intellectual property law.  He is a commercial property lawyer with over 20 years’ experience in private practice, government and in-house.

Throughout his career, Dan has successfully worked on many complex commercial property transactions.  He has strong technical, communication and negotiation skills and a proven track record of professional diligence and ethical practice.  Dan strives to achieve favourable outcomes for his clients.

In Australia and abroad, Dan’s extensive experience includes large-scale business resumptions, procurement and tendering, business sales and purchases, commercial conveyancing, leasing, asset restructures, advice on the protection and infringement of intellectual property, and employment law matters for employers and employees.

More recently, Dan commenced doing a PhD on improving the transactional legal remedies that are available during significant emergencies like COVID-19.

Sophie Paras

Special Counsel

LLB (QUT), BA (UQ)

Sophie was admitted as solicitor in Queensland in 2001 after completing her articles with a local, well established Maroochydore firm.

In 2003 Sophie became the partner in that firm heading the commercial, property and wills & estates section.  During that time, Sophie also completed a Certificate in Dispute Resolution and left private practice in 2012 to become a part of Sunshine Coast Regional Council’s Legal Services Team. There she conducted Council’s commercial and property transactions, compulsory acquisitions as well as providing specialist legal advice in all issues a local government would encounter.

During her time with Council, Sophie was involved in providing advice on policy drafting, interpretation of local laws and environmental obligations.  She assisted in the acquisition of land for the new Solar Farm and environmental reserves (Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve and the Maroochy River Blue Heart Catchment), dealings with the new Maroochydore City Centre as well as the commercial leasing of sites and ultimate disposal of the Sunshine Coast Airport.

Sophie brings to Argon Law a strong background in commercial and property matters as well as an intricate knowledge of the obligations and requirements imposed upon local governments.

Sophie enjoys spending time on her five acres in the Noosa Hinterland where she has an organic fruit orchard, three dogs and three cats.  When Sophie is not out in her garden, you will find her bushwalking or in the kitchen indulging in her love of baking.

Shaun Briffa

Senior Associate

BA Law (Second Class Honours) and Commerce (Distinction), Post Graduate Diploma Legal Practice

Shaun has more than 11 years’ legal experience in property, development and commercial law, acting for a broad range of clients from shopping centre owners to private individuals.

Shaun has developed a keen interest in assisting clients with titling, sale and leasing of developments including commercial land and buildings, waterfront, residential and rural
land.

He has extensive experience in drafting and reviewing contracts for the sale and purchase of residential, rural and commercial properties including off the plan property and units,
marina berths and body corporate agreements.

Shaun brings to Argon Law a strong knowledge in body corporate disputes and management rights, commercial and retail leases, joint venture and shareholder agreements, sale and purchase of businesses, retirement villages and manufactured homes.

On the weekend, Shaun can be found outdoors working on his property, fishing or getting away camping and four-wheel driving with his family.

 

Michelle Wilson

Solicitor

LLB (2nd Hons), BBus(HRM), GDLP.

Michelle has lived on the Sunshine Coast for the majority of her life and has been working in the legal industry here for the past 15 years, having commenced her career in legal administration in 2007.

Michelle studied by correspondence at the University of Southern Queensland whilst working full time in the industry.  She was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Queensland and High Court of Australia in 2017.

Since her admission Michelle has focused on the areas of Property, Commercial and Succession Law, however her training in varying facets of the law gives her the ability to offer well rounded advice to her clients.

Michelle is passionate about the law and prides herself on delivering professional yet personal high quality service to her clients.

Natashia Blank

Solicitor

LLB (Hons Class IIA), GDLP.

Prior to commencing with Argon Law, Natashia practised throughout Southeast Queensland as a criminal defence lawyer in addition to acting for parties in child protection and domestic violence applications.

Natashia feels she is a distinctive and complementary addition to the Argon Law team. Through combining her experience as a courtroom advocate and demonstrated success managing complex matters, she provided sound and timely advice to her clients.

Natashia graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), while also working full time in the legal industry, and was admitted in 2020. She has always held an interest in how the law intersects with business, as was evident during her studies at law school. After being accepted into the Honours program, Natashia received a distinction for her research into how regulation can be used to improve corporate transparency.

Alongside developing her career in commercial law, Natashia volunteers at the Suncoast Community Legal Centre, giving back to the Sunshine Coast community she is so fond of.

Outside of the office, Natashia enjoys spending time with her family, which includes a fluffy cat named Mittens, as well as cooking, gardening and yoga.

Simone Collins

Marketing Manager

Simone is a Senior Corporate Communications and Marketing Professional with over 20 years’ experience across multiple industries.

She offers a diverse skill set in external and internal communications, brand management, research, project management, events, public relations and sponsorships.

Simone is passionate about relationship building and how marketing supports business development.

For the last four years she has proudly called Sunshine Coast home and both her and her husband look forward to raising their two children in Buderim.

When she is not keeping busy at Argon Law you can find her doing something entrepreneurial or volunteering her time in the community.

Sue Cracknell

Conveyancing Paralegal

Sue Cracknell has been working in the law industry for over 20 years.

Sue commenced her legal career as a Private Legal Secretary dealing in the areas of conveyancing, mortgages, plan of subdivisions, loan agreements, wills, powers of attorney and lease agreements.

Since 2004, Sue has been working solely in the area of conveyancing dealing with all aspects of a conveyancing transactions from the initial signing of contracts through to settlement.

Sue’s professional approach and experience will ensure your conveyancing transaction runs smoothly and is completed on time.

Janene Andrews

Office Manager

Janene Andrews is the powerhouse of Argon Law headquarters. Her focus is on maintaining trusting, strong relationships and she has the experience required to do so.

Janene has been working as a senior administrator in the law industry for the past seventeen years.

Janene's legal career has included legal administration and conveyancing in commercial property, strata titling, planning and development, in respected firms from Melbourne and Darwin to the Sunshine Coast.

For the past ten years, Janene has provided invaluable professional support to John Gallagher and his commercial and private clients, in the practice areas of commercial, property, tax and estate planning.

She is passionate about making sure clients are happy at all times so if there's anything we can do to make your experience more enjoyable, call Janene.

Barb Koper

Conveyancing Paralegal

Barb has worked in the Property Law industry for the past five years.  She commenced her legal career as a Conveyancing Assistant with a local firm and within 6 months was offered a position to manage all of their conveyancing files.

Her legal career includes legal administration, residential and commercial conveyancing, planning and development, litigation, wills and estates and accounts.

Barb not only has extensive knowledge in Property Management and Finance but has also worked at a large tendering company in the Commercial Construction industry and also Government Housing Corporations.

With a passion for property and architecture she has found her career in the Property Law industry very rewarding and utilises this knowledge to go above and beyond when she assists clients with these essential services.

Brietta Guillemet

Legal Assistant and Accounts Manager

Brietta has been working in the legal industry for the past 17 years and offers the team a vast range of legal and administration experience.  She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise from her past positions including Conveyancer, Debt Recovery Paralegal, Personal and Legal assistant, and Accounts assistant.

Bri enjoys taking advantage of the hinterland where she lives, and regularly hikes through the Glasshouse Mountains and surrounds with her family.

When she is not at work, she is busy running around after her two young daughters.

With her bubbly personality and exceptional customer service, she loves meeting new people and assisting our clients to obtain the best possible outcome.

Kylie Farrelly

Paralegal

Kylie Farrelly has been working in the law industry for more than 12 years as a legal assistant and paralegal. Prior to working in law, she worked in hospitality managing a front office and reservations team, where she prioritised excellent customer service.

Kylie’s legal career has included legal administration in commercial leasing, wills and estates, and litigation with several boutique firms on the Sunshine Coast.  She has a can-do attitude, no job is too big or small, and she completes each transaction with precision.

Kylie has lived on the Sunshine Coast her entire life and is a busy mum of two. She has just settled into her new farm life in North Arm and, if she isn’t mowing the lawns, she is managing her son’s rugby team or taking her daughter to netball.

With her entrepreneurial flair and creativity, she has broadened her skills by establishing a small family distillery with her husband whose family has been growing sugar cane locally since 1912.

Kath Norton

Receptionist and Legal Secretary

Kath has had over 30 years administration and office experience in a broad range of industries – from media to food and has provided executive assistance to owners, directors and managers.

As with most experienced administration officers, she has crossed over into HR, Payroll, Accounts, Reception, Customer Service and Sales and is always happy to lend a hand, if she can, in any area.

Her extensive customer service also comes from owning numerous small businesses in hospitality and transport.

She is passionate about positive and supportive work environments and loves working with a team to achieve this.

Kath, originally from Sydney, has lived on the Coast for just over 5 years and is a mum of four busy daughters, aged 17 – 20. Also a foodie, who loves cooking and dining out with an interest in health and nutrition.

Jack Hazelton

Office Junior

Jack our Office Junior, has always had a passion for the law and implemented that into his studies through school, commencing legal studies and completing a Certificate 3 in Business here at Argon Law during his senior year at Meridan State Collage.

He is currently studying a Bachelor of Business majoring in Creative Entrepreneurship at the University of Sunshine Coast and is working towards the addition of a Law degree.

With many years of experience in customer service and a diligent work ethic, Jack helps to keep the office running smoothly. Developing his administration skills and willingness to get things done efficiently he looks forward to extending his abilities with Argon Law.

He has been living on the Sunshine Coast since 2012 with his mother and three brothers, and in between study and work, Jack likes to go to the gym and spend time with his girlfriend.
